Interesting link, I've never seen that product. Thsi warning from the product was interesting as well...

"While using this product, you should not drive, operate dangerous machinery or do other things that require alertness."

I wonder if diving falls into the category of an activity that requires alertness...
There are good, factual articles online about motion sickness and the transderm scop patch from DAN.

Did a liveaboard to the coral sea out of cairns called Rum Runner, the jouney out overnight was very rough and they'd given us quite a heavy meal just after leaving port. Suffice to say i spent the night chumming for sharks off the back of the boat!

Apart from the heavy meal and bad weather i dont think it prob helped that I was exhausted after having just got off a plane having spent 2 days travelling by plane, coach and boat.

I eat a tub of yoghurt, dunno why bu treally seems to work for me

One word. Triptone...nothing better. Two on the way to the boat and you should be able to handle four to sixes with the occasional eight footer.
I can certainly vouch for that! I've dived 5 - 7' seas on triptone with no seasickness.

Pasta the night before???? I'd chew two tums afterwards or before going to bed.

i remember i was out with another instructor an a VERY early boat dive, so he went in and bought breakfast for us, take away breakfast sandwiches, some of the others looked ill before we even left the port, but when we ended up eating their sandwiches, that seemed enough to make em get a close up view over the side of the boat ;)

then i kinda felt a little cruel, but i really enjoyed the food!!

Is Triptone the same thing as Dramamine?
well- I'm not a pharmacist, so I don't know composition wise- but they are different brands- and they definately feel different when you take them. Triptone is often sold in dive shops. I find it better thann bonnine or drammamine, but still not great.

I have a somewhat complex method to avoid giving the fish an all-you-can-eat buffet. I use 1/2 of a Scop patch (I now know that you aren't supposed to cut them in half, but before I knew that I cut them and didn't have any bad effects), which i replace every 2 days.

For breakfast I eat a bagel with cream cheese, or some kind of fruit, and drink water. (Definitley avoid acidic things like OJ or coffee) Be sure not to overeat, eat just enough to last until lunch.

On the boat I've found that as long as what you drink is not acidic, it doesn't matter. One thing I've learned (the hard way) is that rapidly drinking water will cause hurling no matter what.

What you eat after the day's dives shouldn't matter the next day, as long as you don't overeat.

I eat whatever I think the fish would like.
