So I just dug my passport out of the dresser drawer. 19 days and counting to Little Cayman.

And as I see it, I've got two problems:

1. We are going to be in Little Cayman on Sunday and I'm going to miss the Pats game. I've already started to think of ways to start sweetalking Ishouldknowbetter into having a child that we can name Lawrece Moroney, and although I'm not holding my breath, I'm holding on to some hope. Please tell me that they have The NFL Ticket in Little Cayman.

2. 55 pounds of total baggage per person. A gallon of water, as we all know, weighs 8 pounds. Alcohol has a lower molecular weight than water so lets say a gallon of ethanol weighs in at 7.9 pounds. Figure I can pour 5 gallons of my ethanol of choice into a plastic headpac. 5 x 7.9 = 39.5 lbs. Add in 2.2 pounds for the headpack brings me to 41.7 lbs. My BP/W weighs in at 8 lbs. 49.73. Mask, fins, shorty, regs, compass, timer, light bathing suit, tee shirt...7.5#'s. 57.3#!!!

CRAP!!!!!

Ok, compass has got to stay home, it's a freakin' wall dive. Go left, go right, go up, go down. Don't need the compass. Light... get real. I'm a NELD. I'm used to 10 feet of vis. Don't need no stinkin light. Toothbrush... Forget it. Spare underwear... Ya. right! Sunscreen... Please, can't get burned if you are underwater.

Ishouldknowbetter seems to have a problem paring her baggage down like I'm doing.

Any suggestions?

I think we timed our trip perfectly. Will be in Bonaire the 15th which just so happens to be their bye-week (phew!).

We are having trouble packing for Bonaire. Although USAir allows two checked bags, DAE does not. It's one checked bag at 44 lbs and one carry-on at 22lbs each. Seriously - don't they know we're DIVERS??!!!

So, same tee shirt and shorts for a week... ;-)

Pack light. Leave the shorts home.

I went though this crap for a charter to Bermuda. 1 30 pound bag per person and an unweighed carry-on.

Pay attention to your bag for comparable capacity some have a higher tare weight. If you have a traveling companion divide and conquer. One large suitcase may be needed for fins and BCs. A lighter but still huge bag can then swallow up more flexibile items with more of the weight going towards your stuff, not the bag.

Make sure your gear is dead dry and prepare for that on the return trip as well.

Just wear the backplate, timer, compass, and mask on the plave...as well as all of your spare clothes.

Good idea, Johno!
I'd have the FBI, the CIA, the TSA, and the IRS up my arse sideways before I got to the gate!
You always have such a practical outlook.
Paul
ps
I got your PM but keep forgetting to call you. Mea culpa!
I'll trade you a set of 80's for your 120's. I'll even throw in a couple of stages!

I say wear ALL your gear. Security will just take a little longer to get through.
