if for some reason some day I go diving without my brain and end up needing to do a deco stop, I hope atleast my eyes are working enough to read my computer

i can tell you that the few deco dives i've done, i knew how long the dive
would be, and how long the deco would be, and i had gas to complete it safely.

you can stare at your computer all you want, but if you don't have gas,
you ain't doing no deco stop, whatever you may call it.

And isn't that the point of the whole thread. I wonder what a computer would do if you got out of the water to get another tank? Lock you out?

I would hope no one would go diving with a planned deco dive without training first...I myself think that would be dumb and dangerous...as far as the computer goes, when it tells me to stop at 15 ft for 15 minutes and I can'tdo any of those fifteen, I'm guessing my computer would lock me out right away. But maybe not all computers do the same. I however will remember what the required deco was and do it anyway if given the chance with a fresh bottle. Maybe one hanging off the line at 15 or may from the boat, or maybe the Boat Cpt or Dm won't let me do it anyway. I am going to read my computer manual because now you've made me wonder if it will lock me out.

All4, sorry if this seems trollish (I don't mean it that way), but I have to ask... did you read the OP's question? Because I'm not sure you are answering the question that was posed.

Also, if I blow off deco, I already know my computer will lock me out. I don't need to read the manual (again), because I already figured out what my computer is good for and what it isn't.

well if he wants to know wether I would then the answer is yes. I would grab another bottle and go down to the 15 ft and try to deco for atleast 25 minutes. But that's just me. I don't recommend it to anyone. I'm just answering the question.

It's all in the Navy manual:

You've only got 5 minutes to get back in the water. And if you're diving with a commerical charter, I doubt they would let you back in the water.

Suunto computers will not lock you out if you surfaced for the 10 seconds it would take to yell at the crew you need another tank. It goes into "Er" but f you return to the deco depth it is telling you in I think it's 1 minute the "Er" will shut off.

Hey ... if you don't have the card you can't possibly walk the walk.

plenty of people without cards walking the walk
