If the AL100 that you're talking about (not sure what 'compact' AL100 is) is the typical 8" 40 LB+ AL100, then I would avoid it like the plague. I used one once and it had all the worst characteristics rolled into one tank; big, heavy, and floaty.

If you keep your eyes open, eventually you'll find a HP100 for sale at a reasonable price. Usually you see PSTs and Faber FX100s at a better price than worthingtons. It's not unusual to find one for less than $200 in good shape.

I'd strongly recommend getting steel tanks too if there's any way you can afford it. Get a pair of used HP 100's, 119's or 120's. You could even get HP80's. They are absolutely tiny next to an AL80 and they are much more negative.

thanks for all the help everyone.

i found two pst 120s for sale for 450$ just hydro test last week. just waiting on a shipping cost..... that will suck!!!

and i found two AL 80s.

i'm going to try and pick both of them up if i can find then money (you would be shocked at how many ways you can cook a potato :D )

if the shipping on the two steel tanks is to much then ill just get the AL 80s and keep waiting :cool2:

Cheers
