I usually use Expedia to book trips to Cozumel, flying out of Houston on the direct Continental flight. I was going to book a trip in August but the search revealed that there are no flights available on Continental or any other airline.

Has anyone else been able to book something in August?

Continental will show weekday flights up and until 8/15. That is their last day before going on weekends only. So if you put dates in leaving before the 15th you will see weekday flights but if you put in a date after 8/15 it will bring up the screen you are talking about.. "no flights".

So leave before the 15th and come back on the weekend and you will be okay.

one option is to fly into cancun midweek and connect to czm via maya air. you leave from cozumel since its a weekend. Royal pain in the ass but it one way to do it.

We have started flying into Cancun for this very reason. Every year, Continental does this. Yes, it takes an hour or so to get to Playa by bus - then the ferry ride takes about another hour but we saved about $150.00 doing this last month. Looks like Southwest may pick up a route with their new merger in the future to Coz - maybe that will light a little fire under Continental.

That would be nice. We have used the Airtran the other part of the merger nonstop from BWI to CUN.

They do this every year and it kills us during what is already low season.

If they are only going to have a couple of flights a week, I think a better strategy to fill more flights for them would be a mid week flight and a weekend flight - then people have the option of a full week or a short trip. Otherwise, Cancun and Maya Air or the ferry are options!

I just checked in with continental as we booked a Wednesday morning flight out of Houston, (starting in LAX), and flying back the following Friday morning. the flight status is still good. Of course this flight is for October.
It seems anytime I have checked over the past two years it just isn't that much cheaper to fly into Cancun when starting from Los Angeles. Sometimes it is even higher.
It would be so nice if Southwest would fly directly into COZ.

You think that Southwest will keep the Air Trans flights to Cozumel? I can't find their route map. It looks like they only fly to 3 US cities from Canada; is that right?
Try Kayak. Does Expedia carry American or are they in with the Orbitz thing?
Expedia was boycotting American in support of Orbitz being boycotted by American. I heard here on SB that had ended, [-]but I don't think it has[/-] - or maybe it has? Still, he doesn't want to fly from Houston to DFW to CZM. I think he'd prefer the non-stop Cancun and bag drag to that.

Continental cuts back in August about the time that schools starts back, but also because of a perceived hurricane season. Not that Coz gets many, but people do think about it some in planning - and they did get a number of us out in a hurry in front of H.Dean one August, at great expense to them I guess as they didn't charge me extra even tho that special plane flew in empty. They do overdo it tho.

Kayak is a great site but Matrix.itasoftware.com does a lot of tricks that Kayak does not, like checking flights for a month.

A very small quibble - Continental cuts back because of an anticipated drop in demand, based on historical data, that may in turn be because of those things.

Nice site, thanks!

anyone know when continental resumes its normal weekday IAH-Coz schedule in the fall/winter?
