I no longer subscribe to any Dive mags, they are full of Advertising and IMHO a waste of money.

go to www.google.com
and search for "Scuba", the information out on the WWW on Scuba Diving will take you a lifetime to read.

Dive Training is normally a good read and a new cert usually qualifies you for a 6 month free subscription.

DA Aquamaster once bubbled...

I second that! I forgot which section I was writing in. Dive Training is a great mag. I stll read it, along with the tech stuff!;)

I third that! Dive Training magazine is one of the best ones out there. They may have advertising, but their articles tend to shy away from gear brands and more into the basics of how and why things perform in a scuba enviroment.

If you can get it for free, try it out...or just subscribe for THREE years like I did. Its worth it.

... I have to give a big thumbs up for Dive Training.

Many dive mags are filled with ads and therefore reluctant to print anything that might offend advertisers, current or potential.

For example, it's just about impossible to find a single even mildly critical remark about any dive location, resort or op ever reviewed in "Rodale's Scuba Diving." Now we all know that this simply is not realistic.

There is a publication that takes no advertising, and that strives very hard to present truthful & balanced reviews of various locations & issues in scuba. It also publishes an annual 500+ page "The Travelin' Diver's Chapbook" that contains hundreds of diver submitted reviews of dive venues & shops from around the world. You can check it out at ---> http://www.undercurrent.org

As others have indicated, Dive Training, although commercial, often contains valuable material----> http://www.dtmag.com

Best regards.

i have been a subscriber to undercurrent for a number of years. as DocVikingo mentions they do not accept any advertisements and are very frank in their reviews. i have found them to be an invaluable resource especially when looking for information on dive destinations, operators and resorts. their information has saved me lots of money and disappointments. unfortunately they do not run their own gear reviews. if you can live with that i can highly recommend undercurrent.

Divetraining and undercurrent are great reads for anyone entering the sport...
