Hi all.

Was thinking of buying a dive magazine and was woundering which one is the best over all one. I find some are all advertising and would like to have a little more info about diving than what I should buy or where I should go. Don't get me wrong I like to know what equipment is good and what to stay away from but not only that. Hope you can help....thanks:)

Actually this board is better than any magazine you could ever buy. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience and a wide variety of divers right here.

Probably one of the most popular rags out there is rodales scuba diving www.scubadiving.com.Its an all around ok mag but i consider it somewhat biased towards there advertisers. There is dive training along with some others but i cant think of the names though.Im sure some of the magazine readers will be along to fill you in on some other magazines.

See if your LDS has "Dive Training" for free. If not, it is still a good magazine to subscribe to. Scuba is pretty much like other hobbies with magazines, after a while, you start to see the same stuff over and over again. When it gets old, don't renew the subscription.

This board is real good also.. and free...
But really hard to take travelling as reading material. :D I pick up "Dive Training " at my LDS, and quite enjoy as well as subscribe to "Diver". Diver has a deal for newly certified divers (not sure what they consider "newly") 4 issue subscription FREE.

Immersed, Dive Training, 990 In-Depth and Advanced Diver - in no particular order. Sport Diver is mostly propaganda, although a nice, well put together magazine. I think that Rodale's is starting to get crappy - I probably won't renew this year. Actually all the good stuff ends up on their website anyway, so why buy it... Diver magazine from the UK has had some decent issues too. Just depends on what you want to read about. Immersed and Dive Training are at the top of my list though.

Do you have a place in PA that carries 990? There is nobody in Canada carring that Mag. It would probably be cheaper for me to have your shop send the mag to me than the cost that publisher wants me to pay to get one copy up here!

What's 990?
Have never heard of it.
Advanced Diver and Immersed are worth reading, as is Fathoms, which is perhaps the most interesting read of 'em all.

990 is a mag out of the UK - focused on UK wreck and tech diving
