Mmmmmm....Very Educational and great Attributes...Ooops...I meant articles....(cough, cough...Ahem!)

most mags. are just advitizer for gear. SSI gives you a free sub. to diver training. Awesome also rondales is good too. Their web site can't be beat

I got a shipment from an online supplier today and enclosed was a 'free' copy of vol.1, issue 1 of Diver's (The Real World of Diving) magazine.

Haven't seen this before, it's a glossy, high-priced ($8.95/copy!) periodical. Well, after a quick thumb-thru, it appears to be a hybrid between Stroke Divers Quarterly and Penthouse.

Hmmm, let's see... there's bungie wings on the tech diver in the cover shot, a Tusa ad promoting split fins for caving, a reversed image photo (nice quality control for 9 bucks), some book reviews, an interview with the CEO of DiveRite, a spicy cucumber/scallops recipe (sounds yummy, might try it), WWII artifact recovery in Saipan, and some misc. other features...oh, yeah, and several provocative 'hottie' shots.

The editors claim they are attempting to "deliver the best damn diving magazine on the market."

Gotta feeling this one will quickly be following Skin Diver's path....

Do you think they could afford some better proof readers?

Lots of folks around Houston are looking for work!

Reminds me of the time I tried to find DiveInn at diveinn.com and found a p0rn site. Maybe that's the homepage for this new rag.

I got a copy of that mag at DEMA. The first thing I read was a "Letter to the Editor" where a high-ranking female dive exec basically told them that if they wanted to be taken seriously they should stop promoting dive porn.

Frankly, after reading the "response" that the "editor" wrote and perusing the magazine, I agree.

Just what women need: more objectification. NOT!

There are lots of better things in diving to spend your money on.

That rag isn't one of them.

I picked up the first two issues to see how it was, and while it is printed nice, has a nice layout, good paper, etc. , I didn't think that the magazine has enough real substance for a $9.00 cost. The pics of the women or mentioned possible future pics of men doesn't bother me, but it doesn't influence me to buy it either.
