because I just came back from a year's dive travel in Australia and Indonesia and it's unlikely I'll see any kind of shark in Irish waters. But I have seen

Whitetip Reefies
Grey Reefy acting weird-swimming around very fast
3-4m Tiger shark checked me out
Leopard (asia-pacific one). Very beautiful shark. Is the species off Mexico sort of grey and black spotted? If so it would clear something up for me
Whaleshark
Wobbegongs

Some body left off Six Gill Sharks that are seen in the Pacific Northwest.

I thought six gill sharks were really, really deep water bottom feeders? Am I wrong? :toilet:

ok - I am p.o.ed... just got back from the BVI and didn't see one darn shark.

My last several dives I've seen sharks. Nurses and bulls.

Those of you who have seen oceantic whitetips, I'd be interested in hearing more about that.

tampascott once bubbled...

I've never seen one in the wild - haven't seen any Great Whites either. Don't ever intend to seek either out.

I've seen plenty of black and white reefies, but locally here in Southern Australia, wobbegongs, port jacksons and the ever-fearful gummy sharks are the flavour..

Occassionally there's great white sightings, but none by me.

Here's my own spot list :

Whitetips, from Egypt to Philippines, cannot say how many sightings, may be one out of 5 dives. Best sighting in Bangka, North Sulawesi, one or two whitetip puppies under each table coral.

Reef blacktips : from Maldives to Indonesia, 6-7 times. best sighting in Bali's Gili Mimpang, more than 10 roaming in a sand valley.

Grey reef : 3-4 times, Best sighting Cocoa Thila, Maldives, 4 in a dive.

Nurse shark : only once in a Manado wall crevace, Indonesia.

Leopard shark : twice, the better in Kota Kinabalu Borneo, a really big one, resting on the sand, we could almost touch it.

Cat sharks : 3 times, 6 specimens on a night dive in Kota Kinabalu-Borneo, ...littlies but still a shark specie.

Threshers : twice on the same spot, Malapascua-Philippines, a stunner. 3 huge threshers circling and waiting for their turn at a cleaner station.

Since a year on now, I'm planning my dive trips for Whale sharks and hammerheads but unfortunately they didn't planned me on their agenda...

Can't believe that almost one out of 12 voters has already spot a Tiger shark. Where do you find them?

When I was in Puerto Rico I saw black tips, I've seen Black Tips and nurse sharks in Florida and the carribean as well. Always wanted to swim fairly close to those buggers.
