The key diagnostic feature I impress on my students is to look for two separate dorsal fins on the torpedo's... I'm surprised nobody mentioned that yet. Or maybe coldwater torpedo's are different from Caribbean ones... I didn't even know there WERE coldwater species.
 
Another take-home message here... if you don't know what it is, you *really* don't want to touch it. What if it had been a torpedo ray... or you thought it was a skate, but were wrong...
 
220V is nothing, I hook that up to my big toes every morning, just to wakeup.
