One that actually points!
I bought a compass a while back and they forgot to but the magnetic material in it so it just floated around stupid like. Luckily they took it back, but I did get a few head scratches in before returning it.

No seriously, make sure that you get a compass that is calibrated for your region or you will be off when following bearings.

Ditto on the calibration....

When in the philippines I was using my new Vyper2 computer, tried the compass and it was crazy stoopid!

Recalibrated it and finally it could tell North from South & Down!

Only problem I had then was the +/-5 degree tilt limitation. Man am I glad the Vyper Air has an allowance of +/-45 degrees.

i have used a wrist mount retractor/slate mount and consoul mount. I think the wrist mount is the worst and hardest to use. retractors are nice but pose a problam of one more thing hanging. the slate mount ones are nice cause you can write down headings and have the compass in the sampe place but again you run into one more haning thing. I personally use a consol mounted aqua lung. its is reliable glows in the dark for night diving and can have up to a 30 degree tilt and still function. in the end though it depends on your type of diving and personal preference
