When I posted rescue was the highest cert listed. Looks like your choices have been altered.
The thread posted too soon and I had a mod take it down and he offered to fix it, and now it's back. You must have been quick.

In your poll, a few options are missing. From my world, I'd like to see:
CMAS 1* (roughly equivalent to PADI OW, fulfils ISO 24801-2)
CMAS 2* (roughly PADI RD "light", valid to 30m)
CMAS 3* (above PADI DM, valid to 56m unless national limitations, and light backgas deco)
BSAC OD (roughly equivalent to PADI OW, fulfils ISO 24801-2)
BSAC SD (roughly PADI DM, valid to 35m)
BSAC DL (roughly PADI DM, valid to 50m)
BSAC AD
Equivalent Diving Qualifications: BSAC, PADI, CMAS, NAUI, etc - SCUBA Travel
But if I were 3*, DL or AD, I'd be solidly above DM, but definitely not an instructor. What should I choose? If they are "roughly equivalents", then pick the rough equivalent, there is no reason to name out each agencies specific course. SO if you are CMAS 2 pick Rescue diver.
For me certification level is secondary to experience some use the cert to pound on their chest. I think the minimum number of dives for certain certifications "DM and Instructor" are to low and if you hit the levels with the minimum numbers of dives you don't have much real world experience because all your diving has been in a class environment with an instructor. Just my 2 cents.
What was the most important reason, in your opinion?Agreed. Talking about chest pounding, my wife asked me a few years back if I'd like her to sew the cert badges on to my drysuit. I have her an emphatic NO. Reason 1) it would no longer be a drysuit, reason 2) and way more importantly, I'd look like a right bellend!!
There is a local diver here who has a large Vegan patch on her drysuit. I guess it's to calm the fish.Agreed. And only us geeks pore over the 'net to find the webpage I linked to. How can a non-geek AD know that their cert is considered at least as good as, probably above DM and MD? The ladders are quite different.

Me, I'd be most concerned about the DS...
