What is your favorite type of BC?

I just would like to know what everyone's favorite type of BC is, so I know what should be a good purchase. Do you like:
Jacket style?
Rear inflation?
BP/W?
Other?
WI or belt weights?

I have seen a pretty solid majority prefer BP/w systems. Why do you like what you have?
How much did it cost, and what type of diving do you do with it?


Just trying to get a feel for what a good style BC is, so I have an idea of what to purchase.

I dive a Rear Inflate travel BC (Zeagle), and a BP/W when diving dry to put a bunch of weight on my back!

There is a very strong BP/W following on SB, but honestly, my Stiletto dives as well as my BP/W. Where the difference really shines is when comparing a Jacket style to either a Back Inflate, or BP/W.

I wear a weight belt with my BP/W, but honestly prefer weight integrated systems. I'm going to pick up a DUI weight system at some point, and I think that is going to make me happy vs. just a belt. Putting weight pockets on my BP/W is just not appealing.

I saw more BP/W systems than ever before this year at the invasion. However don't kid yourself. The majority of divers I see are NOT wearing BP/W's even if they seem to be growing in popularity on SB in leaps and bounds. By far the most popular BP/W I saw during the invasion was from DSS. They make nice stuff, and I know several folks that have them locally as well.

However DSS did not meet my needs for weight (for the price) as well as the HammerHead system I use. It's about 12lbs with STA, and since I dive that setup to spread the weight around and remove weight from the belt, that was perfect for me.

A couple questions... how can someone have a favorite system if they don't own it and dive it? If you dive more than one system, and like them both, why can't you select more than one option?

I dive a Dive Rite Trans PAC with the weight pouches it works great i love it

I own an oceanic cabo, dive rite trans pac, and SS backplate. I haven't dove anything but the SS backplate since I bought it, I like it that much.

Call me a traditionalist if you like, but my favorite is still a real Scubapro jacket (not front adjustable) with weights in a weightbelt.

I'm a BP/W fan . . . Adjustability was the big reason, tank stability another, and modularity a third. My gear is a hodge podge of brands, but I really like DSS equipment -- His single tank rig starts at $445, I think, which is a pretty good price for brand new gear.
