In a marina, under a boat, in the SF Bay
I traded services for it but have no idea what it might actually be worth (if anything):

It is a steel 72. From the photo I would pay 20 bucks for it and take a chance that it will pass hydro. If it does pass then it would be worth it.

It is an old LP72 @ 2250psi

Out of hydro $25 - $35.

If it doesn't pass hydro, what's the drill? Toss it?

Scrap value?

The odds of it failing hydro are slim.

The (Slight) risk is that it's a rust bucket. Slowly bleed all of the air from the cylinder and let it re-warm to room temperature. Remove the valve (it shouldn't be all that tight) and take a peek inside. Don't sweat minor spots they can brushed out. If it looks reasonable then replace the valve and run it through the process.

The other option is to bring it to the shop freshly drained and ask them to knock the valve off for a courtesy inspection before handing it over for formal testing.

As a relative price consider that a LP77 which may be one of the most comparable current cylinders has a Leisure Pro price of $239. If a 72 CF cylinder is of any use to you then even if you were into it for $100 after hydro, VIP, clean-up and valve service it should be a good deal.

Be sure explicitly request that they seek the + rating when they do the hydro. Most will not go the extra step without a request. Without that it is a 65.

Scrap value is minimal... However, if it does pass +hydro, you will get a great tank... Also, if you can find another, it will make a great set of doubles. I know several who use 72's as doubles. Good luck.

Worth plenty as an extra for hull cleaning.
