Credit the term "technical diving" to Mike Menduno at aquaCorps. Exactly who coined it, I'm not sure, no one is, but is was one of us at aquaCorps, so give Mike the credit. The concept was that, like technical climbing, there is recognition of the difference between being dependent on skills to being dependent on equipment. That's where the term "technical diving" came from and what it means.

Looks like I've missed something here..........not surprising really I miss all the fun.

I think it's all been said, although I haven't read all that's been said!!

I was talking with some mates the other day about doing a dive to 58m on a wreck we all fancied, our common reaction was it's ONLY 58m. The only difference between us is the bottom times we run.

From a recreational divers POV it is as described in a very early post, a ceiling whether imposed by deco or a physical structure. From a sport or technical divers POV it is something beyond their 'comfort zone'.

Enriched air is usually a first step, I still do deep air for fun, but always with enriched stages.
