What is status of Caribe Blue renovation?

Anyone been there yet in 2004? Will they be finished by Carnaval week?

Very unlikley that all renovations will be completed by carnival.

Work so far is mostly exterior, although a few rooms on the top floor are nearing completion.

Outside, pool has been painted, small sand area constructed and enclosed, natural wood partitions & drying rack on built porches & fresh thatching installed & the like.

Redone rooms have that big tub that is so ideal for rinsing gear removed and an attractive shower installed. Slipperly tile removed from floor and replaced with an adbode type covering that includes a small stone mosaic. Fresh paint & free in-room safes due to be put in soon.

It is still open & operating, and still a super deal.

we stayed at the Caribe Blu the 18th and 19th of Jan. 04, although we didn't visit all the rooms I was told the rooms were all done. There was only a few guests there as the lobby was being re-done, old tile was lifted and new cement was trowled down while we were there.. looked like they would be starting to lay the new tile the day after we left. Either way, before we left for Cozumel we were told the construction would be completed.. it wasn't, so good for a bit of a discount on the rate as the hammers started precisely at 7:30 a.m. and continued throughout the day.
My guess is that they are done or will be shortly.
