Its called DIR Fundamentals. Its a class offered by an agency called GLobal Underwater Expolers (GUE). It basicly covers the basics of a system of diving called Doing It Right (DIR) which was developed out of cave diving by the founders of GUE. The class itself is a very intense class which covers Fundamental skills, such as proper trim, bouyancy, DIR gear configuration (which is very strict), ascent, descent, OOA drills, valve drills, etc. It generally has a very low pass rate of the first attempt. It is also required to move on to any other GUE classes. It pretty much introduces you to a new way of diving, or did for me at least.

If you search the DIR forum on Scubaboard for Fundies reports, you'll find a bunch of them that will give you a very detailed look at what the class is, what it teaches and how.

shhhhh. if i answer your question, then we would be hi-jacking this thread.....

also, if i answer the main question with what i have to really say, then this thread would be closed for it would elicit strong opposing reactions.

so to answer the main question : Any Fundamental Course if conducted well is ok. Follow the link the guys provided and you will get your prize.

Hate to voice this observation, but GUE teaches DIR Fundamentals. Ok, my understanding is they teach "stick" to fundamentals so to speak. Well if that's the case, then wouldn't Global Underwater Explorers be better suited to be called GLUE for sticking to fundamentals? Just a goofy thought.
