Actually it got kinda embarassing. When the professor was leaving he left a romantic letter for me with the staff. They gave it to me prematurely, while he was still around so I had to hide in the jetty bar until he was gone.

Managed to get some IDC knowledge reviews done meanwhile though.

So the staff knew and they passed the story on to the LDS I work for back home and now I might as well just slap the whole thing on the front page and live with it, I guess.

I should say that it was a very sweet and well-intended letter but just not my well ... area of expertise.

This year I've learned....

OW and AOW cert'd

Spray on sunscreen on the face is bad at 75 feet when it slowly runs into the eyes.

The need to have a fresh shave before a dive means the difference in a good seal on my mask or a slow leak and my wifes like the fresh shave better!

I too love Kona diving and agree that Catalina Kelp is the best thing since sliced bread
-Night diving is one step better!

Shaws cove is awesome but the stairs will kick your butt after three dives no matter how good of shape your in

Id dive way more if I had a reliable dive buddy or group of friends that actually dive

Balancing a vacation between diving and attention to a wife that doesnt dive is hard work.

Trinkets belong in the dive bag not on your BC. The cloud behind you, belongs to you. The difference between 52 degrees and 46 degrees is A LOT more than 6 degrees. You can dream while awake....

The number of divers out there who want to be 'tec' far exceeds the number who should be making tec dives.

I learned what a cruise ship can do to a wonderful little island like Grand Turk and there is really nothing good to say about it.

I learned I like my new back bouy. B.C. for the fit but the right rear air release is not as comfy as my previous BC's.

A fellow diver told me, "I do not take dive pics and do not plan to start. Everyone that starts is all consumed by pic taking and loses some of the other aspects of the dive." I did not take pics on my next dive and just enjoyed the scene passing by, and found there to be considerable truth in what he said. But I still love taking the photos.

I learned that turtles and large french angels will take turns eating a sponge. I watched them for most of a dive. I learned that turtles, after eating sponge, seem amazingly friendly. It was the 3rd time I have watched turtles eat sponge and after eating it, they swim over to me, follow me, and come it to get their fins stroked and head petted. Happened each time. And none of the 3 places were near each other. I never fed them but they were sure friendly.
I am thinking of putting sponge in my wife's drink sometime...

That's what I love about this board. I got certified a little over a year ago, and since I broke up with my ex-fiance last October I haven't dove at all since I didn't know anybody else who dove. Since I've been posting on this board (for three weeks), I've dove every weekend and have plans for more diving. This is great!!!!! :D

Wow, I am sorry to hear that. :( Glad to see that Scuba Board has helped you out though! :D I'm worried that if thing didn't work out with the fiance(my dive buddy:)) I wouldn't be able to dive any more :shakehead: Thanks to you, I have learned that I would be okay if that would happen to me ;)
Take care Sandy!

So I can leave my wife and dive more? Wait Id probably be dead, Ive learned that would make it hard to dive, nm. LOL

34 y/o m living in Corona, CA seeks dive buddies. I have beer! =D

Maybe it is because some of us have been solo (Non DIR) diving, (with a decent safety record in challenging conditions) for longer than you have been alive. We sometimes get the feeling that you have learned a lot of the stuff by reading books and/or by diving in a quarry that is shallower than many people freedive. I'm only half serious, but I still use a regulator that is alot older than you....:D:D:D

I LOVE my job working in a SCUBA shop, I've been a manager for 2 years now and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Here's the background:: I'm a 20 yr old female; I've been a store manager for 1.5 yrs and recently aquired a job as a retail manager.. I have a LOT more experience than a lot of these customers think when they first get to know me.. I love to get the question "I need to ask someone about service of..." and I say "Ok, How can I help?" the normal response.. "Oh, you probably wouldn't know, I need someone that can service." Well ladies and gentlemen I've learned a lot being in this business, LOT more than people realize, so when I ask "How can I help?" It's usually because I REALLY CAN HELP YOU!! Give a younger person a chance, you don't have to be diving for 40+ years before you can answer questions!! There's a lot you learn when you're in a the SAME environment for long periods of time. Just because I'm FEMALE AND YOUNGER doesn't mean I don't know...

I love to be able to explain and answer to someone that thinks they've had all of the experience in the world and them look at me and say "What!?!?". Hah!! We do know!! Give women a chance to teach, sometimes we do know more.... (not always, we're still learning, but a lot of times we CAN stand up and hold our own...

Ok, now that that's off my chest... know anyone else like me; I'm always interested in females of higher positions at younger ages.. because WE CAN ACHIEVE!

This year I learned the benefits of learning to understand swell patterns and how to assess them before doing a beach dive. I started learning about swells, too.

This week I learned that one should not take a chamber ride solely for demonstration purposes. It is possible to get bent while in the chamber.

Before doing something, ask yourself: "What could go wrong?" Then decide if you really want to do it.
