What do you take underwater?

What does everyone take with them when they go for a dive, whether in pockets or attached to them?

I generally have a smb, a small slate, a small torch and a fold up snorkel in my pockets (Queensland law saws you must have a snorkel with you, as well as a cutting impliment and whistle), as well as a knife mounted onto my harness. There's often times when I wish I had other things down there though, like a joy line, or a reel, or a catch/goodie bag. What's everyone else's ideas?

I carry a two small torches and sometimes a small camera. Small knife on my waist strap. In my thigh pockets (clipped to bungie loops) I have a spool attached to a small closed circuit "sausage," wetnotes (with pencils, a dive table and a small laminated card with my personal info + insurance number), a spare mask, a couple of stainless steel double enders, a pair of shears and a storm whistle. I also carry a large SMB in a pocket between my back and backplate.

A spare mask and snorkle, torch, SMB, glove( depend on local law ), knife, whistle, tank banger or short stick, spare lanyard to secure hose or another equipment and magnifying glass if i have to find a small creature.....

I kind of a minimalist and I dive wheres there's loads of stuff to get snagged on, so besides the obvious gear, just a goody bag.

Wow, thats a lot of stuff you guys are carrying.

All i have is a reef hook, a sausage (SMB) and line, a chemical surface marker, and a camera which is in the hand..

zip knife in front, sausage in back of crotch strap, seasnips on belt,sl4 and scout on sholder harness, thin multi page slate or wetnotes in pocket.

I think at least one good light is useful (I carry at least one on every dive, day or night), whether for looking into nooks and crannies or for signalling below and above water. For me, a small reliable light with a long burn time is essential.

Some kind of SMB is also a must - as well as serving as a visible marker to the boat, it can be used as a spare floatation device on the surface.

Slate or wetnotes with something to write with is always useful - you never know when simple hand singles will fail (especially when diving with strangers). Also useful for sending messages to the surface/boat.

Torch, dSMB and Reel, Slate and pencil, Spare mask, knife on inflator hose. IMO all essential, especially the mask - after getting kicked in the face and losing the mask at 30m i was grateful I didn't have to ascend blind!

dont take too much yet because i am still fairly new to the sport. I do take along my dig. camera, water to drink and girlfriend ( lol )
