My rig came with a Halcyon Surf Shuttle which fits in there perfectly. Unfortunately, I don't think I have much use for it and want to still use the storage space. I have 2 80# CC Lift Bags and a Small Alert Marker. The alert marker is very compact and would be happy in a pocket or on a D-ring and I haven't figured out a way to fold the CC bag so that it fits in the MC Bag.

What do you keep in there?

Halcyon 60 lb SC bag there, but after adding a 7 lb soft trim wt between the BP and MC Pack, it doesn't deploy very easily so I will be moving the bag to my DS pocket.

However, the little mesh pouch on the front of the MC Pack holds a 3 lb soft wt pretty comfortably, which helps with weighting for single tank dives in the DS.

Maybe this link will help with storing the bag:

I normally stuff whatever bag I intend to use on that dive in there - either an OC 50lb one or a SMB, depending on where I'm diving.

Is there a specific reason that you would use one over the other? Both provide the about the same amount of lift. Do you normally carry two lift bags?

The lift bag is a lift bag.... if I think I might want to lift something, I take that.

The SMB is a surface marker; I normally only take that if we're doing a drift dive where I need something that sticks way out of the water for visability on the waiting boat.
