I've been curious for the longest time: what do tech divers do on deco stops? Even some of my safety stops have degenerated into rock-paper-scissors, and those are only 3 minutes or so.

Play hangman, magnetic checkers, or chess and catch the occassional nap.

I dive with my wife...and we....well...you know.

Usually, I tie myself to the line if in the ocean and go to sleep, or if in a cave, find a comfy spot and go to sleep.

I used to read a book or eat my lunch. Granola bars and juice pouches work great.

So you can seriously sleep on a reg?
Yes. It was fairly common back in the early days of cave exploration when air was used for the dive...AND deco. I duno how safe it is, but it was common.

What happens when your jaw slacks.
Rude awakening??
Let's say it is more of a snooze than a full fledged sleep.

I've done it several times while pulling 24hr charity dives. It takes some practice and, yes there is the occasional rude awakening.

Never tried it on a 'real' dive.

I was definitely dozing on deco when I was doing it with my head stuck under the Ginnie Springs log. I could see how you could fall asleep.
