If you ever win an Antarctic cruise, I'll be glad to take your place and tough it out, somehow. :)

Notta chance :D. Those underwater ice formations on TV look pretty cool.
You sure? I could write up a very nice report, with slides and everything! :mean:

when flying home from New Zealand, part of the flight entertainment was a short little documentary about extreme adventure sport. One of the features was ice diving -
these people travel to the Antarctic or something and pay around $8,000 each to dive under the ice.

I forget what the water temperature was, but it was REALLY COLD. Scary cold. These people had to put on special drysuits and equipment - every inch of their body was covered.

However, after their dives, all the people said that it was nothing like they had ever experienced. For $8,000 per person, I would imagine so.

I dunno - I'm still a wuss, I think. :wink:

as long as i can get in the water without the hole freezing back up , i hate trying to chop through the surface with an axe
:D
had do do some dives this year in 32 deg sea water ,ice was starting to form on the hood when i was getting out.
so the temp dosent bother me too mutch .

Eh what?

Oh, it's priced in daft old imperial money :wink:.

40F = 4C = cold
50F = 10C = cold
60F = 16C = cold
70F = 21C = cold
80F = 27C = cool
90F = 32C = warm
98.6F = 37C = body temp
110F = 43C = hot springs*

*Try New Zealand. But don't try diving in them :fury:.

Sorry... I planned to do a little math before submitting the poll,
and I promptly forgot. I than just tried to edit the choices, but
only a moderator can do that. Oh well, if people read, they'll
get the conversions! :)

Slushy ocean soup, 28 F just above freezing. I would have to be pressed hard to do it again.
