My DIR training.

Oh, if we step away from gear, I wholeheartedly agree. The single thing that has positively affected ALL of my diving for the last three and a half years.

Spring straps. I love my drysuit, but the joy-per-dollar ratio on spring straps is through the roof! I'll never dive fins without them again. Then again, pretty much all of my diving is shore diving... :)

Best thing I have ever bought are spring straps for my fins:D I'm an avid shore diver, so screwing around with the factory straps for my fins in moderate surf REALLY started to piss me off. Tried the spring straps and I was hooked the first dive I did with them. Best $40 I've ever spent!!! ;)

Seeing as a few people have mentioned spring straps now, can I ask, why do people like these so much?

I have switched both pairs of fins that I own to spring straps (and currently use my jet fins with Manta spring straps that I got for 25AUD on sale :)), mainly as they are more durable than the plastic straps, and they certainly make my fins easier to take off and put on - though I never had particular trouble with the plastic straps even in surf - but once they are on I do not notice the difference between the springs and the plastic straps. So they wouldn't be up there with "best purchase", not even close. So I am curious about why others find them so great? :)

I wonder the same thing.

I'm sure they are, but at $25 for the springs, I can replace my rubber straps for decades.

With rubber straps, they practically put themselves on and take themselves off now. It can't get any easier unless they come with someone to put them on for me.

They make putting on and removing fins so easy. I hesitated for a while but relented and tried them, I really do like them now.

You can make your own spring straps for practically nothing though. I am just lazy :) (and cashed up).

But overall, I think spring straps - nice to have but not best thing ever...
