With rubber straps, they practically put themselves on and take themselves off now. It can't get any easier unless they come with someone to put them on for me.

I thought that too, until I found some spring straps on clearance at LDS. Night and day...and they have loops that make my fins easier to carry up/down the long set of steep stairs I often have to use to get to the water at Lake Travis.

You can make your own spring straps for practically nothing though. I am just lazy :) (and cashed up).

But overall, I think spring straps - nice to have but not best thing ever...

I need a new set of double HP120's with mainfold and bands if you have extra cash laying around :)

With heavy gloves on, rubber straps are definitely not as easy to put on as spring straps, not for me anyway. I've got my rubber straps entangled twice so far, no such risk with spring straps. And I don't have to worry about them breaking. No brainer, really.

I love my:
1-Tilos Excel mask
2-Regulators (MK2s with BAs)
3-Spring straps
4-Viking Bayonet dry gloves
5-UK4 lights with the upgraded LED module
6-SK7 compass

Everything else I could replace but these will stay.

Sorry I spent all my money on spring straps :( If it weren't for that I'd definitely buy you a set of double HP120s.

I don't care what anybody says, you Aussies are worth your weight in salt!

My flip fins and my MIG welder.

Seeing as a few people have mentioned spring straps now, can I ask, why do people like these so much?

[...] they are more durable than the plastic straps, and they certainly make my fins easier to take off and put on

You answered it yourself. :D

Not having to putz around with the factory straps on a cold winter dive when things like buckles freeze soon after you get out of the water is another good point for me.

IMO I think spring straps are nicer because in cold water all you do is grab the little loop, and pull. there are no buckles to undue with 7mm gloves on...

BTW I love my spring straps :D

My Boat, best piece of dive gear I've ever owned.

2nd would be my Mares Avanti L full foot fins. Love those things. Talk about an extention of the legs. No need for booties. However, when it gets too cold I have to put them aside and break out the jets of idi's. No spring straps, haven't felt the need, tried them and found that regular straps worked just as good for me. I've never had a strap break on me during a dive. I check them and aways carry a backup.

pretty much all my gear that i've bought i love...

I would say though that my best purchase is my tank followed by my wet suit.

If i didn't get so much crap for buying stuff online.
