I took a punt on a scuba tank hoping it was a Faber 12.2 but assuming it wasn't. It was cheap, is in good condition, is heavy and has 150 bar still in it.

Can't see a brand other than maybe Lux UK.

I was driving home and saw a plumbers truck on the way home and thought it might be a welding gas cylinder repurposed as they looked identical, however further inspection of the tank has a sticker on the front with test dates etc (referencing Diving Internationale I think).

Some details:

12.2l
Flat bottomed (the moment I knew it couldn't be what I was hoping; a Faber)
16.2kg stamped on it
34800 kPa capacity apparently

I thought if it's a fizzer I might be able to reuse it as a welding gas (Argon) cylinder and stop having to pay $18 a month rental in the one I have.

flat bottom means aluminum, lux means luxfer. 232 bar service pressure and 348 bar test pressure (100 kpa is 1 bar btw) and 12.2liter volume. basically you have an aluminum 100.

Gotcha. Not what I wanted at all then :)

Oh well. It was only $120, I'll get it tested (hopefully) and onsell it to someone that's ok with an Alu.
