All great dogs, granted, but have you considered . . . bears?

get a bull god :)
heheheh
That reminds me of my dyslexic insomniac agnostic uncle. He lies awake all night wondering if there really is a dog.

A Newfoundland seems to be a great choice. They are bred as water dogs and once served as lifesaving dogs with coast patrols. Lifesaving is always a good thing. I'm getting one soon and naming it Rudder. Anyone have any scuba related names?
If it's a boy, how about Gauge?
Or for a girl newfie, CESA.*

My black lab/border collie, Indy (that's her at the left) would be great, I'm sure. She is very protective of me, and loves the water. We use her to clear floating wood off the lake and out of the way of the boat :D

Plus, as you can see, she's a party animal!

I'd have to vote for the Australian Cattle Dog (since I have a red and a blue) and that first scuba dog happens to look like a blue heeler! Bet they would be great at herding the fish too!

What about Cocker Spaniel?

Indeed! I had a cocker that loved the water and loved to free dive. He'd even swim under other dogs to get where he wanted to go. I think he'd swim until he had a heart attack if I didn't insist on his rest breaks. Sure miss that dog.

Use 2...

Dogfish for underwater, and any breed that'll fetch me food and drink on the SIT, then pack, lug, clean, and stow my gear after we get back.
