I just picked up a pair of OMS 98 cu ft LP Steel tanks. They have about a dozen dives on them and look brand new. How much are these tanks worth?

Advantage #1
They are negatively buoyant so you can pull a couple of kilos off of your weight belt.

Advantage #2
You are more likely to get a full fill.

Advantage #3
You can overfill a tad.

The OMS 98s are actually neutral when empty instead of negative. But you'd still loose 4 to 5 lbs off your belt when compared to a standard AL80.

What are the worth? New, I've seen go for in the neighborhood of $300 a piece. One thing you want to make sure of with an LP tank is that you get a complete fill. Some unknowledgeable shops may give you fits over the + rating and only want to fill them to 2400PSI, especially if the hydro tester fails to restamp the +.

Warhammer is correct -- I own an LP 98, which I bought new last summer for $295. For 2 slightly used tanks......$300-400, perhaps?

BW, Warhammer -- saw your trip blurb in the latest RSD scubadiving issue -- you're famous!

Famous? Nah. I think I got more press on the Manuver. :) It was cool though to see that. Rekon the dive shops I reviewed will give me a few freebies? LOL!!
