Please tell me why I would want to purchase a BC/W over the standard or even the 'High Lift' BCD's in a jacket format? It seems like a giant step back to the past unless you need a minimal rig for wreck or cave diving due to cramped quarters.

Also, my LDS owner uses a 'High Lift' BCD (75 lbs) and I asked why. He said to help him aid a student in trouble. So why does anyone need 75 lbs lift?

Thanks,

Stan

I cant see anyone other than someone embarking on a multi stage cylinder dive needing 75lbs of lift. "helping a student in trouble" doesnt really make any sense unless the student absolutely massively overweighted.

As for wing/BC. Some people find wings improve trim and are less cluttered.
Its a personal preference thing.

I find that BPs are more comfy and fit better and more securely than jacket BCs.

Not sure why anyone would need 75# of lift. I handle my doubles, stages, deco, reels, etc. with 50#.

Can somebody link in a picture of a BP/W set up?

sure...

I have noticed almost no tank movement with a BP/W, whereas with a jacket it was constantly an issue. Of course, that was with an old, worn out, low end jacket.

After all of the effort I put forth to get trimmed out properly in the jacket, I was pleasantly surprised by how little it took to do the same with the BP/W.

Just my experiences.

i have a 94 lb wing with a dual bladder
multuple stages, and big heavy doubles
when i dive single tanks and small doubles.. i use my trec wings
i like it because its more versitle to whatever diving i am doin weather it be deep wrecks of just lobstering
its all personal preference

I find mine to be far more comfy and noticably more streamlined than my jacket BC...to the point that it increases my air effeciency. I will never go back to my jacket.

As for 75# of lift....that guy must have a thing for big numbers, because even in the world of mult-stage tech diving that would be a MASSIVE amount of lift...
