I dive the DR Transplate and use Zeagle pouches just because they were VERY much cheaper than the DR ones.

I too have them as close to the plate as possible as it helps me from being shoved over face down on the surface.

I use weight pockets made by Triton, which were about $10 each at my LDS.

If you know, which Zeagle pouches do you use?

Duh, I guess I had old people on my mind! The site is indeed www.leisurepro.com and the pockets I got from them hold 5lb slugs with no problem. Dunno if the shot bags will fit, I don't have any of those. I slide them all the way back next to the tank.

If you are looking for something differant than the dive rite, and will still hold allot of weight, you might look at the Apexs weight system. It will hold plenty of weight, and still be low profile (similar to the halcyon, but with a better weight connection). And since you won't be using a plate, you might want something larger than the xs-scuba pockets.

DUI also makes an interesting weight harness, IIRC, which might be a good alternative to either a belt or pockets. I've heard good things about it, but have never worn it.

Footslogger, the XS Scuba pouches are designed to hold a standard size 5lb weight, max. They'll also hold a pair of 2lb shot pouches no prob. (Do they make 2.5lb bags? might work for those, too).

I have the DUI W&T. Its decent, although I found that with my doubles and plate, I use my simple belt with the xs pockets. I will look into the Apeks as I have not seen them.
Thanks

The shotbags will fit, but they are a pain in the arse to get in. Some of the diveboats only supply soft weights so I've put them in there. The 3's and the 4's go in ok, but the 5's were a pain to put in.

I also have the Dive Rite 32 pockets but they tend to slide. I put plastic slides in but they break over time. Guess I'll have to buy some stainless ones sooner or later. I also have the XS scuba ones that I put on with my singles. I am thinking about getting another set since I need a little weight with my doubles if I'm in my drysuit and aluminum plate. I wonder if it would be safe to turn them upside down and make them ditchable if for some reason I was unable to swim my rig back up for some odd reason.

I dont know if they have an actual name. They are about 6 inches or less long and hold about 8 to 10 lbs max. They came in at $40 versus the $100 for DR

The newer DR design sucks, IMO it's like the ACB but oriented diferently, older style DR are great, I got one set of the older style, and they are rock solid and don't slide around in the belt.
Also got some XS pockets that I use for storing other stuff, they're dirt cheap and can be mounted anywhere a 2" weebing is used, I wouldn't recomend placing them upside down since anything with velcro is bound to fail one day (probably the worst day), but if you want to be able to ditch, tie a piece of string or rope to the weight block and use it to pull out the block in case you need to ditch, also you may be able to pick the block and take it out easily without any strings attached to it.

OMS are bulky outward since they combine a weight system with an accesory pouch.

DR, OMS and Halcyon are veeeeery expensive, if I had to do it again, I'll get the XS from day one.

If you have patience, you may be able to find some older style DR 32# pockets on ebay, I'm very happy with mine and wish DR went back to that design.
