It seems that here in Central Fl., everyone always talks about West Palm, Jupiter, Venice, Epcot, and all the local springs. Is there any good diving out of Daytona?

The diving can be decent. It seems as though most who are diving off of Daytona regularily are spearing.

There are some wrecks and ledges, but the viz tends to not be the best.

Check out this link http://www.seadogdiver.com/ for a charter that runs out of New Smyrna. Their website has some info on some of the sites that they visit.

I dove the Mindanao last year. She sits in two pieces about 11 miles out of Ponce Inlet. Viz was about 30' w/ water temp around 78 degrees and there was nobody else on the wreck. There's not a whole in the way of sightseeing but there's lots of spearing to do. A few Goliath Grouper have made a nice home there... It's a worthwhile dive if you're looking to get wet in open-water without driving to West Palm or Jupiter or paying to do DiveQuest @ Epcot.

I agree w/ Scubafool...check out Sea Dogs site ( www.seadogdiver.com ).

Give a shout if you ever want to do any diving up this way...I'm in Orlando.

Daytona has some nice North Florida diving offshore: limestone reefs and wrecks.

you get some nice tropicals, and some larger game fish. vis is ok ... say around 50
feet on good days?

the boat rides are a bit on the longish side. can get expensive.
