I'd suggest Diver Dan's as well. They have classes going on all the time. I'm finishing up my cert through them and have been really happy with the course and instructor.

Wallen's dive shop. Ask for Susan.

another vote for YMCA.... they are really thorough - 8 ocean dives... plenty pool sessions. Diver Dan's is not bad but not as many ocean dives afaik

Hi there,

I got certified through the Central YMCA on The Alameda. Their next class is August 7th. More info here: http://scuba.munchnet.com

Here's a link to their class schedule in PDF format: http://scuba.munchnet.com/ScubaFlyer.pdf

Good luck!

I got my open water and advanced open water through Wallins when I was living in San Jose - definitely worth the drive up to RWC. As for Joe Sparks, he's a great instructor.

Congratulations sarita75! Hope to see you some time in Monterey. My wife and I dive BreakWater fairly regularly. Quite a few others do here as well.

Glad to hear you are happy with the instruction you received as well.

Thanks Zen_Man! I am happy to have completed the coursework, esp since there were numerous (personal) delays in getting the AOW dives done. Finally though - and just in time since I am going to be doing the Adolphus Busch in the middle keys in October ... woohoo! Hope to meet up with all of you in the near future!
