My guess is a boat prop made some shark fin soup.

Here's the 4 minute whale shark video that my dive buddy Ronald made. He did quite a nice job in pursuit. I've dumbed the video down to a lower res windows video format (the original is 300MB). I also added on the video clip I took of Ronald's dance after shooting the video. Good fun.

Where was this shot? Nice, very nice and I'm hoping to see lots come this December. Oh, BTW, those are some HOT babes on that site :D
