My first wet suit was a back zip. Loved it. Then I bought a front zip because I got a great deal on it. I hate it. Their is another good deal on a chest zip you know the kind that goes from shoulder to shoulder. Does anyone have one and how do you like it. Because of my LDS slim selections I'm forced to buy on-line where I can't try it on. Thanks

A wet suit is a tough item to buy online (unless you have tried on the same brand/style before), maybe I could recommend a LDS for you where you could try some on?

BTW, I dive dry year round, but, for free diving I have a seaquest cold water jumpsuit that zips in the back and I love it.

I've got an O'neill 2pc w/the 'chest zip'. I've had no complaints so far. Here's a link to the one...

I got it for $100 off cuz they were bringing in the new models. I'm pretty sure chest zip is only in mens. No problems with leaking or anything. I'll be trying it with a new hood soon. The velcro at the neck can be cumbersome sometimes.

Sure hope this was the one you were talking about

I'm referring to a dry suit, however, it's some what the same. I have a Waist, front zip, on one, and love it. I have a shoulder zip, front, on the other, and I'm not impressed. It is hard to get the last 8-10 inches closed. I'm fearful of zipping the cover flap in with the dry suit zipper and ruining teeth. I'm stuck with it now, and am making the best of my situation. It's a custom and chances of finding someone my size in this life is remote!

Personally, I would recommend against purchasing one of those styles if it has an attached hood.

If it is what I am thinking of, the hood has a chin strap which is secured closed by a strip of velcro. I can't stand them, and I haven't yet met someone that hasn't had problems getting the hood comfortable.

If you're going to be using a seperate hood, I see no problems. But then, I use a front zipper suit, and I find it very comfortable.

my experience was quite the opposite: my first suit was a front zip and i loved it, now i bought a back zip suit and... i also love it but it takes some time getting used to it :) i think it's more of a 'i'm used to' situation.
but as recommended earlier i do think you should try it before buying! i bought mine in the middle of winter, in finland! trying it was (well i'm a nice girl and i'm not gonna use those words :D ) painful, to say the least, but it had to be done.
happy shopping :)

Oops, I mis-read your original post sdexcalibur, and I was thinking of a wetsuit that zips ups diagonally across the front of you body.

Hi i have a diag front zip on my dry which pokes up abit at the shoulder due to zip.
Looking at the picture if the lady raises her arms above her head would'nt the whole zip also rise up.I may be wrong as i have never seen anything like it before especially in the uk .Have you looked for reveiws of this product on the net??.

Regards,

MAL..
