I have a transpac with the integrated weight pouches and they're perfectly comfortable when diving. It's much easier to put the weights in before putting the BC on but the weight adds a little more inconvenience; nothing too drastic though.

I dive with a lad that has the DUI Classic weight system with the suspenders. This looks really handy as it would make the BC much easier to don while on land as it would be much lighter (21lbs in my case) and the weight is supported by your shoulders instead of your hips. Also lugging the rig around with the weights still attached is much harder on the equipment. You can see the added stress on the straps and seams.

I do have a couple doubts as now there are 2 belts instead of 1 and possibly more straps to fiddle with when putting the BC on and taking it off.

Anyone have an opinion?

I use the DUI weight &trim2 with my transpac and it works great. Although looking at other peoples classic version of the W&T I think I would rather have one of them instead. The adjustment straps seem to be less flimsy....The extra strap material on mine sometimes gets in the way.

The only bad thing is when you forget to put on the weight harness before putting on the rest of your gear. With a weight belt or the pockets you can get your weights on without having to take everything else off. I have forgotten to put it on first more times than I care to admit.

I have one (not sure if its the v2 or Classic) laying around if your interested. I switched to a BP/W setup and the buckels & straps overlaped. If you wear a conventional BC it should lay fine underneath it - also depending how high/low you wear the weight on your hips. As for the belts - thats only a concern when don/doffing. Underwater to ditch your grabbing the yellow loops.

I use the DUI W&T as well, with my backplate.

My opinion? Oh My God, does it make a difference. Beats the hell out of a weight belt.

I used 20 lbs on my last cold water outing. In a belt, that would have been murder. In my harness, it was noticeable, but certainly not uncomfortable. I even use it in the warm water when I only put 10 lbs in it. So much more secure than a weight belt.

If you have any reason to not use integrated weights, get one of these.

Same, same! It's so comfortable, I sometimes forget it's on.

With my back problems, the pain a standard weight belt on the hips gave me is totally gone.

I have the W & T classic and it's a god send. I use it for diving dry (neoprene suit). I need about 30 lbs with full undergarments, so I split the weight up between the W & T and the BC. I have a lack of a rear end and a mild case of a beer gut so a weight belt doesn't work well. Also - the compression of the neoprene suits allows a belt to loosen and slip. I don't even pull the harness belt tight and I let it ride low on my hips to position the weight better.

As someone else said, I sometimes forget it's on. Next to going dry - it's the best thing I've done for my diving.

I dive with a harness that's similar to the DUI W&T. It's much more comfortable and easier to put on than a conventional weight belt. Plus, you don't have to cinch it up tight to keep it from sliding off your hips.

Thanks for the responses, sounds like it's as useful as it looks. I'll ask my buddy to see if he'll let me borrow it for a dive and probably end up picking one up.
