When I started diving, I couldn't keep a heavy weight belt on. My dive shop sold me a suspender system that used a standard weight belt threaded through with 2 cam buckles at the shoulders (std. weight belt buckles). This was terrible!

It did accomplish the task of keeping the belt up, but it located the buckles under your BC. It was difficult to take off yet I had the cam buckles pop open on giant stride entries. If that happened in water, you had to nearly doff everything to get it all back in order. A few dives with that, and it hit the bottom of the dive bag and stayed there. Eventually I went to a Weight Integrated BC.

From what I've seen with the DUI and similar systems they look to be well thought out compared to the simple suspender I had.

Quick question about the DUI Weight and Trim 2 from some of you who have used it.

Have you worn won with a backplate and harness? If so do you find that wearing 2 harnesses causes any problems?

I dive a Sherwood Avid but I have some input....

When getting out of your gear you do need to pay attention. It's fairly easy to wipe the weight harness off of your shoulder. Like most thinks after it happens once you do get smarter. I'm thinking of adding a sternum strap before drysuit season for this reason.

As far as donning it's all going inward at that time so things stay put for me.

I do have friends diving as you ask and they think the W&T is THE way to go.

I use the WTII, with a BP/W/hog harness; no problems. I don't even know the WTII is on. The weight pouches do not get in the way; I have them positioned just below the harness. The center the waist buckle on the WTII, and the waist strap on the BP/W is offset to the right side, so there is no conflict. Crouch strap is outside of the WTII waist strap.

I also sometimes forget I'm wearing the WTII, even with the 16-20#s I carry in it.

Worry not. My wife tried it she she has adopted it for the wet diving season. She's stout and could not wear a belt on her hips without it getting up under her BC and bunching things up, now she's a happy diver.

Yes.
No problems. The W&T II harness is a different look/feel from the webbing on a BP.
I did replace the plastic buckle with a better design:
