So, lets hear a report guys! How was it? We're thinking of going tomorrow. (Now that I got the IL's outa the house.)

Yup, it was a very nice dive.

True to form, we managed to NOT find the bigger pinnacles, but oddly enough, found a small one I've never seen before that was an exact miniature of the big ones, complete with a full cover of Gorgonians... just shrunk down to the size of a VW bug. So the three divers who came along, however, Ana, Robert and Justin, got a taste of what G-City is all about, at least. :)

The sand was alive as usual, however. I showed a 51 minute bottom time. We saw tons of small purple globe crabs, a rather amazing number of pipefish throughout the dive, crossing the sand in the open (!), a few small target shrimp, a small school of some sort of bait fish at one point, and the usual bunches of small Thornback Rays. At the micro-pinnacle, I also saw two octopi hanging out, and the highlight was a juvenile (perhaps 2' long) Angel Shark, mostly buried in sand, and who eventually took off after I harassed him enough! That was worth the whole evening, for me.

I didn't get a lot of photos, as I was fairly distracted trying to navigate, locate the missing pinnacle, and keep tabs on the group, but I was glad to be able to join Robert on his very first night dive! I'm glad everyone enjoyed the dive, I know I did. :)

Empty V:
Great Report Kalani, I forgot to ask you what the vis was like.

And a big Congrats to Robert for completing his first night dive! :beerchug:
Oops, forgot to mention vis... vis varied a bit, as usual, ranging from around 5' to as much as 10' here and there, but usually 5-7'. Usable range, albeit barely, for a night dive there.

Thanx for everyone's help to make my first night dive a good one! The underwater part was really good, but poor Kalani, Ana and Justin had to listen to me bellyache about the long walk and surface swim. Thanx for putting up with me guys!!

Next time, either a long walk OR a long surface swim...just don't make me do both back to back.;)

Special thanx to the surface crew. Nice to have people come out, knowing they won't get wet, just to supply support. THANX!

Thanks for the dive report. Hmmm...we're diving G-city tonight, but the vis sounds kinda yucky. Oh well, maybe it will clear up a bit by tonight.

Robert, let me add my congrats for your first night dive! Are you coming out next Wed?

With 5' of vis at G-City you are in paradise. There is so much to see that you forget about it. Now the surge is a whole other deal. How was the surge last night?

Negligible... only noticeable as you neared shore (~20fsw). Very nice conditions, overall. Vis could have been better, but again, it's enough for a night dive.
