Is anyone else FRUSTRATED? Here we are at the start of our regular dive season and every day is either thunderstorms or sunny with 15 - 25 knot winds... Yesterday a.m. we thought we'd beat the late afternoon thunderstorms and headed out at 6 a.m. Got to the dive site with NOAA predicting 1-2 ft waves. (9 miles off shore). Came up from the dive with 1-3 ft waves, decided to call it a day and by the time we packed up it was 2 - 4 ft waves and on the LONG RIDE BACK IN it changed to 3 - 5 ft waves (and they were 3 - 5 ft WAVES!!!) It's driving me nuts.... We're usually out on the water steady in April... July is right around the corner!!! AHHHHH!!! Does anyone have calm water???

trust me i know the feeling. I have a salmon boat i run on lake Mich. I bought ten new reels and a ton of other new gear this year, and have been out once. Let alone trying to get out scuba diving yet this year.

we had flat seas and no winds this morning in the straits at 7 am -- 1 day out of 4 -- I feel your pain!

trust me, I feel your pain too. I'm out in CT so we've been getting the same stuff as you 2 days later. Was completely blown out 3/4 weekends in May, got 2 good dives in last week, then got blown out again today. We were heading out to the U-853, waited out the am pouring rain with forecast saying clearing skies and 10-15 kts w/ 2-3 ft waves. We rounded the breakwater and ran straight into 3-5+ft rollers with solid 15-20 kt gusts. Had to turn around and dive a shallow site inside the breakwall. Not fair

Tell me for the sake of my sanity that you had other things to attend to rather than enjoying an awesome dive today... We actually thought at heading down that way this weekend! Drive 4 1/2 hours to do 2 dives and then head back home....

Haven't been blown off the quarry yet ;) It may not be wreck diving but it's diving :D

Hope your weather clears up soon.

We dove the Eber Ward and Minneapolis in picture perfect conditions and were home by 1 PM. If you want to make a long day of it, you can get in 2 dives, come in, have lunch, then go out and get in 2 more dives and head home. It does make for a long day but at least you get your moneys worth!

We've had two near-perfect weekends down in Port Sanilac; with winds from the South West the waves have been minimal - Saturday was almost glass-calm.

We got in four dives in Port Austin and five in Port Sanilac last week but it came at a price. Weather was nuts and we had our share of rough seas. Last Wed. by the time we got in the boat and headed back in shore after our third dive we had 4-5 footers and it wasn't pleasant. In four days of diving our last day was better but not great. at least we got our dives in. Had we not ha a flexible schedule we would have missed half at least.
