jlivengo:Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I may have not made myself clear. I have no intention of taking weights. My question was how possible is this with a weight integrated BC? Do you need custom weights that must be taken along or can you use most weights at the dive centers? Thanks again.
You don't need custom weights. I have a Zeagle Ranger LTD with their Ripcord quickrelease system. It has two weight pockets in the front and two lower tank pockets for trim. In the front pockets it came with custom-fit mesh bags which I fill with 3/8" lead shot. In the back for trim I use 2-3 lb standard block weights as needed. My buddy who has a standard Ranger, uses block weights in the front pockets as well. In probably over 30 dives, he's only had one weight slip out of the front pocket and that was a skinny 2 lb. block.
Of course with my setup, you could put the block weights in the mesh bags so this couldn't happen. Although I carry the shot generally wherever I go, I like to be able to trim by 1lb. increments or less when necessary. And we shoredive quite a bit so it's easier sometimes to have it with.
I saw another integrated system on a boat (maybe an Oceanic?) and it had square fitted pockets with a velcro dump system, the person was using 4 lb. mesh weights with it. Although I think block weights would have worked as well, although maybe not as comfortably, if I remember right the weights were kind of higher up in the jacket.
