Glen, you'll want to check out the Dixie Diver's forum. Specifically one of threads sticked to the top of it, Vortoberfest. You'll fit in fine.

I will check that out...have you been to it before?

MDB will be going, she will be in the camp site right next to Suprbugman. She doesn't like diving with me, so you will have a dive buddy if you go

SeaYoda:
I really have worn it, so no set up.

I am surprised at how you have managed to become the target of all these "friends" I told you that were good to dive with .

well, we always say, and friend of yoda's is a "friend" of ours!

Yeah, its not really a place though, its an event :D Held at Vortex Springs(as a base camp) and a cook out type of thing with other ScubaBoarders. We dive Vortex, Morrison, Cypress, Becton, ect. Everyone who went last year had a great time!

I feel sorry for you...but, rumor has it even if she would dive with you...you have a tendency to wander off...Was that a false rumor I heard?

Is it worth going to this for the diving or are there so many people there that it is hard to do anything??

Last year, I dove 4 different springs, with multiples at Vortex, Morrison, and Cypress.

Cypress and Becton is pretty much always deserted of divers.

Morrison, like you saw, isn't all that crowded in the morning - same as in the evenings.

Vortex isn't very populated in the earl of morn, or at night - makes for a great, deserted night dive!... especially without lights.

I think last year went something like.... Fri night dive at Vortex, Sat morning at Morrison x2, Sally's for lunch, Vortex with the crowds, eat a ton of food at the cookout, Vortex at night, beerfest, Sunday morning at Cypress x2 and a dive at Becton.

Plus you meet a dozen or more ScubaBoarders :D

I will pay for one day of diving at Vortex. I can (yes, cringe as you will) snorkel for free as long as I am camping there. I plan to take advantage of a night dive. So I will have to plan my day of diving at Vortex

Same here, I plan to skip Friday nights dive, pay for Saturday and get 2 or 3 dives in while I'm there as well as some dives at Morrison. Sunday, I'd like to hit Cypress(and maybe Becton), if I can get my boat back in order.
