Ya know, LaJolla Shores is open. How about Key Largo?

I got it bad - Last time I dove LaJolla someone threw a crab at me! Wanna go back and also do a nite dive at the cove and hit Wreck Alley. ROAD TRIP!!

Lake Wazee is my fav... http://www.wazeesports.com/ is the dive op up there. Not bad with the flag , just tie it to the platform and retrieve it on the way back. Lake Geneva is boat diving only anytime of year.

LaJolla Shores Park is the surf entry from LaJolla, CA. A very popular dive spot up the coast from San Diego and it is relatively cool water. You can still be comfortable in your dry suit;) . LOTS of wildlife. In and out of the suits:eyebrow: . Also near Scripps Canyon (google that) although it's best to do Scripps from a boat.

ppo2...What is the one dive reference? I think I sometimes resemble that.

Red Granite - 7am to 7pm daily. Man, that's a hike...they are all hikes.

I cant wait for this:

ScubaAquarium sounds like a risky undertaking by whoever is doing it. Could be pricey too, with a one time fee, monthly dues, and per dive fee. I would be surprised if this gets off the ground, but I guess stranger things have happened.

With true Great Lakes diving, the statement that they never close in the winter is correct. The caveat is that most of the sane charter operators have their boats out of the water by now until spring :( . For those of us who don't care to incur the expenses involving with owning and trailering boats (think gasoline, insurance, maintenance, etc.), that tends to make it prohibitive for us to dive those areas in the winter.

True, most of the charters are gone for the season, but not all. The Lender out of Milwaukee goes through the winter. Note: if you dive with the Lender in winter, you must carry a redundant air source like a pony or doubles. If your willing to venture up to Door county, the bays don't usually freeze until the end of December. You can do some awesome shore diving up there, sometimes with viz topping 100 feet. The Yuppies are also gone for the season now and driving up there is no longer a major hassle. I live near Port Washington and have been known to pop in once in awhile if the conditions are right. I dove twice last january on the Northerner off a friends boat. We had to break a little ice in the harbor, but no big deal.
If you don't dive the big pond, your down to ice diving. Try your local club and watch the dive shop web sites. Green Bay scuba and Wazee sports usually put on a few. I think Silent World up in Sheboygan may have had one last year, but that might have been just classes.
