Waterproof Overvest as hooded shorty in warmer water?

Has anyone had any experience with this? I'd like to get one to complement my 7mm Quantum Stretch for extra warmth in cooler water, and then use the Overvest by itself as a sort of, hooded shorty when I get a chance to dive in warmer water. Just wondering if anyone has tried this, if the Overvest performs well on its own, etc.
