I came up with the Tsunami observation all by my little self. It was profound.

such wisdom :)

Just to throw it out there, I haven't seen any Oahu divers give current temps in this yet. We're seeing 78-79 off Kona right now. New year's time might be a degree or two cooler if a couple of big swells come through. I know Oahu can be cooler, not sure how Maui fits into the spectrum.

We went diving on Dec 14th and it was 77 at 30ft. Yes, that was our deepest and that was at low tide. We went to Kahe Pt. I was freezing, but I get cold really fast anyhow.

Wow...you guys are getting me excited, I'm in Oahu for the Dec26th to Jan 1st:D . I just checked my Log Book and my Warmest Bottom temp was 58 ° in CA, My last Dive here in Canada was on Nov. 20th with a Bottom Temp of 37 ° and Surface Temp at end of the Dive of 31 ° (-1 °C). It'll be nice not to have to worry about Regs freezing up or Ice forming on my Suite, Mask...etc :14:

You are certainly in for a treat :) We recently returned from Maui and the water temps were typically 79 degrees... or 81 on my computer, which tells me it's a couple degrees out. I wonder if someone set it that way to soften the blow of cold water diving here in Vancouver... hehehe. I haven't braved going back in here yet... especially now that I know 45 was really only 43 degrees.... brrrrr... and with the cold snap we've had I'm sure it's down to the low forties now. There's been talk about ice diving in Banff in March... no thanks. Too cold for me! Even with a drysuit I'm a wuss... my head gets brain freeze, my cheeks go numb, and my fingers feel like they're going to break off... sure is fun

Thanks guys and gals for the info - was debating whether to wear 3 mil, 7 mil hyperstretch or 7/6/5 Excel suit - the 3 mil or the hyperstretch would both probably be fine - the 7/6/5 too much! Thanks!!! :)
