Hey guys, whats the water temp. at the moment around Cairns and the GBR? will this change much in January?

Thanks

Thanks for this, do you also know what the temperatures are like in Sydney?

No idea about Sydney I am aftraid. Colder obviously, but I would imagine arond 18-20 deg as it is summer.

We had some warm water come in on Saturday ... was 22°C (72F) and 20°C (68F) on Sunday, these were on shallow 10-15m (~30-45ft) shore dives.

Up until then the water had been 16-18 degrees, seems to me that the water is warming up later these days.

Thanks for this info. It's cold!!!

I thought of maybe doing a cpl of dives in Sydney as will be there for 2 weeks b4 going up to Cairns, but never realised it was that much colder! I guess will see when I get there

Right then, I guess I'll be doing a few dives in Sydney too, do you know who is good to use there? there'll be 2 of us my girlfriend and I, I'm an OWSI and she's advanced PADI. We'll have some equipment with us. Who's a good dive center to use?

Thanks

Depends on the site you want to do. Sydney Dive Academy is very close to one of the popular sites Bare Island and could probably arrange someone to go out with you to show you the local critters.. It is a shore dive.. there are a few Weedys and Pygmy Pipehorse, REd INdian fish Morays, PJ's and heaps of other stuff there.

Kurnell is probably the best place to pretty much guarantee Weedy Seadragons... I will have to check the best dive shop close to there.

Shelly is a good site for Wobby Sharks, is shallow with heaps to see.

When will you be in Sydney?
