Sorry for the cryptic title. What I am trying to figure out is how much the water temperature - at depth (60-80) the water temperature is going to change over the next couple of months. Wondering if boat diving in a 7mm one piece with hooded vest, etc. would be pretty miserable or not.

Any ideas? Thanks all!

No idea, but I think after my repetitive dives at the channel islands, I'm getting a dry suit.

This should answer your questions about temperature.

As far as boat diving in a 7mm, well <shrugs> everyone's different, but I'd only try it in the summer when the fog's gone. Winter? Miserable.

But, I am the data point that defines "gets cold easily"; next trip to Hawaii I'm taking my dry suit....

All the best, James

Thanks James - I will definitely check out the site and see.....

I should hasten to add, that my reference to summer was for the unusual summer day, when it is a welcome surprise to find sunshine instaed of the summer fog.

Shorter days and less sun made boat diving in a wetsuit in our waters unbearable for me. I switched to a drysuit after one too many foggy days on the water. Submerging in 50 degree water after a long ride out sealed the deal for me.

It's not the water temp, which is relatively constant in our waters (from about 48-52 degrees, give or take a few on rare occasions), but the lack of any way to get warmed back up on the surface intervals.

Yeah, I don't have a problem shore diving in the 50ish degree waters in a wetsuit but boat diving really makes me want a drysuit!

Mine usually reads between 46-49ish during those months.... that is the only time I really need to put anything on under my drysuit.... I just know that come March, I start to get cold...

Yes... This is coming from the guy that the Escapade Crew talk about the "Dude without gloves and a hood" I do get cold.... sometimes....

Thanks all. I would love to have more liberty with respect to buying/renting a drysuit as I don't mind them - but rentals just never fit right (esp in the feet) and it becomes slightly problematic the way they end up with the fins, etc.
