First use tuesday. I found it difficult to dump all air from my donut. After two dives I found that there was water in the donut. When I got home I tightened the three dump closures - they were just a tiny bit loose.

What I'm wondering is if the water might have gotten in through there or if holding the dump open for a long time with no air coming out was where it came from.

Any ideas?

it comes in when you hold it open and it isn't actively dumping gas. Won't fill it fully, but it will definitely let water it. If you are using the corrugated hose over your head and it isn't dumping, the hose will fill with water and when you add gas via the power inflator it will get displaced into the wing. It's not a problem, just make sure to empty it at the end of the day

Yep - I always (fresh or salt) wash the inside of my BC or bladder. I'm glad to know that it was me letting the water in. Thanks for the replies.

I had trouble getting the corregated hose to dump - at least I thought I did. I think I'll try dumping from the valve on the bottom of the bladder while going verticle head down. I imagine it would stay drier that way if I held it open too long.

Not really but you can squeeze it with both hands to make sure the last air bubble is at the valve before you pull it. And also that there is an air bubble to let out in the first place. Assuming you're not wearing 7mm gloves and all that.

I only occasionally use the "inflator" to dump air from my wings. I am often on the bottom filming and find the lower dump valve to be easier to use. I do get seawater in my wings during each and every dive and simply evacuate it (and if I'm not too tired, rinse it in freshwater).

The one and only dive shop that asked us BCD renters to rinse out the inside of our bcd with a hose said to hold the oral inflator/exhaust button in open while putting freshwater through oral inflate opening, swoosh it around, then dump through oral inflate. But i wondered how it was supposed to dry completely.

After you empty the water out from the kidney dump valve, blow air into it through the corrugated hose and then dump water again, and again until it’s almost all gone. Don’t put it near the radiator or sun or something else to *dry* it.

Unscrew the pull dump and hang it in the closet for the winter. It'll get very dry very soon, provided you're far enough North.
