I just bought a Light & Motion Stingray III Sport. I am looking for
the above Sony w/ Lanc.

ADDEDAny Sony no more than 6" long I will consider, I prefer Mini DV.

Any specific model? Here's a list of options from the TopDawg website. Their housing is a cost reduced version of yours. http://www.topdawgvideo.com/compatibility.htm

You can get a lot of them on eBay reasonably. Personally I'd get a mini-DV model like the Sony HC series. Some (most?) of the TRV series are also Mini-DV.

I'm pretty sure an HDR-HC1 or HC3 will also fit if you want to go into HD. Someone over on Wetpixel is doing that with your housing.

Can you be more specific? Do want a MiniDV format or digital8, looks that your housing can handle both.
I have a DCR-TRV 740 Digital8 camcorder used on 10 dives that is like 10 hours, it has ilink connection.
Contact me if you are interested.

E-bay is your best bet. I bought an HC-1000 last year at a decent price. I wonder how long it will be before Sony ends using LANC? They are pretty much the last using it. Keep in mind that some functions may not be accessable through LANC on some models. Easiest way to know is to surf, surf, surf. I would also suggest mini-dv especially if you want to edit.

I'm sorry to intrude but I'm curios where did you heard that Sony may discontinue their LANC feature that actually is their patent and all their accessories that are supposed to work trough Lac. IMO I sink this feature will never be discontinued as is sugested above, I suggest to all subscribers of this forum that when you are not experienced enough to post a useful advice, better shut up.

I think you need to reread my post, I never said that they are going to or may discontinue using LANC. I just stated that Sony is one of the last that uses it. It use to be that several others used one form or another of LANC, call it what you want. Look now and you will probably find that Sony is the only one with this feature.

Paul,

Actually crpntr133 was correct in his questioning when Sony will stop including a LANC port because they just did!!

There's no LANC port on the new Sony hard drive camcorder, the HDR-SR1, or on the DCR-DVD105 and DCR-DVD205 models - though the DCR-DVD305 and up still get one.

Even I am surprised at that. I knew the functions have decreased, on most, but never thought they would stop totally.

You're just prescient.
prescient \PREH-shuhnt; -shee-uhnt; PREE-shuhnt; -shee-uhnt\, adjective:
Knowing or anticipating the outcome of events before they happen
