I am looking to visit San Diego 12/30 and 12/31 for the first time and am looking for advice on diving the area and possibly someone to buddy with. I am traveling from Casa Grande, AZ on 12/30 hoping to do an afternoon and/or night dives along with some dives on 12/31.

Anyone diving these days out there?

Thanks

Thanks, I did contact them and they have dives scheduled on 12/30 in the morning only. Unfortunatly I won't be able to get there in time from Casa Grande to make the dives this early unless I leave the day before. Trying to avoid an extra night hotel stay on my budget.

If you're interested in diving the shores on the 30th let me know. I may be able to do an earlier dive on the 31st.

A shore dive sounds interesting. What is there to see along the shores? How difficult is the entry?

The above URL will take you to a site that describes most San Diego shore dive sites. LaJolla shores diving can run from 25 feet to past recreational limits or anywhere in between. Have fun.

You can also do the La Jolla Cove, probably a better dive for you. Max dept around 40 feet and you have some structure and Kelp. If you lucky, you may even see some Soupfin sharks...not sure what I doing yet at that time. If I'm available I'll take you, send me an email closer to the time. The Shores could be a sand dive, if you don't slow down and look for stuff.

Plenty, if you don't mind a long surface swim. We usually go to a couple different walls and hang out looking for small creatures. We'll even see Giant Sea Bass, Angel Sharks, Rays, and lobsters.

It really depends, it can be flat as a lake or set up for a surf tournament.

Although not my favorite site the cove is another option.

I don't know about that particular boat, but if they are doing an early morning run, they may let you sleep on the boat the night before as part of the cost of the trip. Some boats allow that.

I hate getting up early and driving/rushing to get on the boat so I don't get left behind. It's great to be on the boat already the night before, not worrying about being late, and rolling out of the bunk ready for the trip.

I'm pretty sure the Lois Ann doesn't allow overnights. Its not that big of a boat. In fact I don't even think it has bunks.
