I love the Nederlands but it's just too large over here to do same.

Who does this?

Best,

Chris

Hi Chris,

In the Netherlands this is done by the dutch scuba council( NOB-CMAS)
They just bring in some old school regs see what happens and make
the results public.
They check on prices and workmanship

best,

Evert

BTW what do you mean to large???

SB has over 60000 members (most of them in the US) just maybe those of you who do bring there regs in for service have the reg checked independently for factory specs and write a assay for you reg on SB

How was it done
what where the costs
How is your reg performing now
And most important who did it

It would be a set criteria based on experience and training of techs (and not just our training!),physical service area, repair and testing equipment, tools, stock levels of service kits and parts and be reviewed annually.

The reps would do the evauls.

Are your sales reps experienced at servicing regs? If so, it may be a good idea. If not, it could easily get into a sales volume issue. Also, how would you be able to say that "X" shop is good at servicing regs without also inplying that "Y" is not good at servicing regs by their exclusion from the list? The hardest part would be doing an objective review, I would think. I don't know how to service regs so it may be easier to objectively than I'm thinking it is.

Sounds like an idea that customers would rightly love, if done aboveboard. Not sure what the benefit would be for the company, though, except good customer realtions. :D

Edit: The idea of an independent Dutch Scuba Council rating could be similar to using testing labs in construction to verify tolerances. It would be best if it was brand independent, however. It would also add cost to the final product unless we could add a few "sin" taxes to get other people to pay for it.

How many would like to see a similar evaluation of industry sales reps? Which ones are most effective, which ones work with the whole field, and not just their major players, which ones work to further the industry, which one's work with the new shops to help them meet the market effectively, which ones have the best tools, the best training, etc...?

It happens every day, the dealers get to vote with their dollars as well.
