Vortoberfest VII runs from October 7 - 9 this year.
If you're new to diving, or just a diver new to the area, do yourself a favor and make plans to attend Vortoberfest 2011. Vortoberfest is an annual weekend event that centers around diving, camping, cooking and friendship.
Some folks make an effort to arrive Thursday at Vortex Springs Campground, and squeeze in a few dives before setting up camp, and settling in. Most people arrive Friday or Saturday, and time is generally spent diving the springs, caves and caverns in the area. There are also usually two or more groups that spend Saturday in nearby Panama City Beach either diving from shore, or hiring a charter boat for dives of a more salty variety.
Saturday night you'll find the community grill, and many smaller campsite grills working hard to cook some of the finest grub you can imagine. Some folks even drink an adult beverage or two
Sunday is usually spent lazing around the camp, and most folks pack up after a good breakfast, and perhaps a dive or two.
If you're constantly looking for a dive buddy, or an excuse to go diving, make plans to attend VortoberFest. You're sure to make a new diving friend or two.
