Nearest bar I know if is on Highway 90, in Westville, which is ironically East of Ponce De Leon. It used to be called the River Cave Bar, but it has another name now. Still a bar, if you're looking for one...

Aside from taking a picture of the old sign, I've never been there. I would say... enter at your own risk.

LOL, thanks for the warning.

FWIW: 4C's was closed tonight but Sally's has a pretty darn good dinner at a reasonable price. I had the grouper. They were nice people too.

Thanks for all of the great advise. It helped make a great trip.

Things learned:

1: Ponce De Leon is is a sleepy little town with nothing to do other than eat and dive.

2: Ponce De Leon Motor Lodge is reasonably priced, clean, and has a helpful staff.

3: Consider Sally's for dinner as well as breakfast. It's great.

4: 4C's BBQ is closed on Sun and Mon but is awesome when they are open.

5: Vortex is well worth diving. It's not just a training site. (great cavern) Depending on who is filling tanks, you can get a semi-cave fill on LP 95 doubles.

6: Morrison has a outflow that rivals or exceeds the Devils ear or eye. Entering the cavern is not for a novice. Also, the cavern is a short swim from the dock but the dock is a HELL of a long walk from the parking lot with doubles on your back. (note to self, get a 2 wheel dolly)

Thanks guys/gals, you helped make for a great trip.

Our pleasure. Glad you had fun.

Cypress had more out flow than Morrison then last time I was there. Glad you had a good time. Vortex needs dredging to me. Its gets real small quick. I stopped by 4C on Saturday night and got some loaded fries.

I was there the night after you but that's when we found out they were closed on Sunday and Monday. We did get to eat lunch there yesterday after diving and before hitting the road. It was dang good.

Cypress has roughly 3x the flow Morrison does :)

I like a challenge but I don't like canoeing, especially with a set of double 95's.

Seriously? Two sets of cave gear, deco bottles, and a buddy is usually par for course around here while canoeing :)
